During the UK lockdown, many have swapped their offices for working from home. The change in working circumstances has prompted some to look for different properties which better suit their needs, while others have also been tempted to move due to the Government’s Stamp Duty holiday.

Many have benefited from the Government’s Stamp Duty holiday in England during the coronavirus pandemic. The threshold for Stamp Duty, a tax paid on properties in England, has been temporarily raised from £125,000 for residential properties to £500,000.

However the Stamp Duty holiday is planned to end on March 31, 2021. In recent months the Government has faced increasing pressure to extend the Stamp Duty holiday, in order to help more people as the pandemic continues.
